What to Expect?
There are a hundred doorways to life at CPC: group discussions, service projects, kids events... and you’re welcome at any of them. One of the best is simply to come and worship with us on a Sunday morning. Our Worship Services are at 9am and 10:30am and everyone is welcome. When you come, here’s what you can expect...
It’s going to be a great day! Your first stop is at our KidsMinistry Check-In Station in the lobby. If you come at 9am, you’ll attend service with your family in our worship center and enjoy a fun activity packet. If you come at 10:30am, you’ll start in the worship center with your family and then be dismissed to our super fun Kids Church upstairs. At Kids Church, we sing, play games, learn from the Bible and talk about faith. Our adult leaders are kind and fun professionals and volunteers. (Your parents will be glad to know you are supervised by trusted, trained and background-checked men and women.) If you are 0 to 3 years old you can go to our fully-staffed Nursery during either service.
You’ll get to choose between staying with your family the whole time or getting to know some of the Students who go to CPC. During our 10:30 service Middle School students meet for games and an interesting discussion about faith and the Bible. High School students stay after 10:30 worship for lunch and a big discussion about life and faith.
Many teens at CPC volunteer in different ministries (like cameras or kids games) around the church on Sunday morning.
You may have a lot of specific questions about what “kind” of church we are. Here are a few details that may help: Our worship services are contemporary with several modern songs and at least one hymn, along with prayers and scripture readings. Our sermons are always Bible based and life application oriented. Most places around our building you’ll see people using their gifts in ministry because we believe Church is God’s people on mission. More than anything we want Jesus and the Gospel to be the star of our church life.
We think you’ll like it! When you arrive you’ll be greeted at the door. Anyone with a lanyard or bright yellow button is happy to answer questions and help you find your way around. As soon as you are inside, you’ll notice our Centre Cafe beverage station. Help yourself, and if you don’t mind, stop by the name tag table and tag yourself. When you’re ready, head into the Worship Center and sit anywhere you like. We sing several songs, pray, read scripture and listen to a sermon. You won’t be expected to pray or sing anymore than you want to, and most people won’t really notice what you are doing. Sometimes the sermons are serious, sometimes they are funny, but they are always about a passage in the Bible and how it relates to real life. The whole service takes about an hour and ten minutes. Afterwards you can stay as long as you like.
